Nifty Film

Found this today. Very cool! It's been filmed very recently, and features one of my favorite local characters, Kevin Clarke, at the end. My only beef with it is that I generally think of Parkdale's eastern border as the train tracks (though I would include The Gladstone too), and this film includes things much farther east of that. People seem to have very different ideas about Parkdale's boundaries. What do you think?

Good lord I hate these spamming blog comments.

At any rate, I am a purist like yourself. The easternmost boundary of Parkdale is indeed da tracks. We'll let the Gladstone in just cause it's nifty.

My parkdale goes from the tracks on the east to Roncesvalles on the west. The lake down south to Dundas street up north. The Gladstone is part of Beaconsfield Village, which is more like an offshoot of little Portugal in my mind. Just walk 3 minutes north of Queen and you'll see there's a big difference from Parkdale proper. But yeah.... the Gladstone is still a nice place.

I think the reason I always want to include the Gladstone is because it's been there since Parkdale was but a wee village. The Parkdale train station was right across the road, making the Gladstone a likely place for travellers to and from Parkdale to land themselves.

The Gladstone is clearly no longer on the wrong sides of the tracks, not even metaphorically.

I saw we set up machine guns on the bridge and shoot all yuppie invaders entering the 'hood.

The Drake has had very little if any impact on Parkdale. Including it as part of Parkdale is the same as Mark Dailey telling us that another murder has happened here, " Man shot in Parkdale tonight at the corner of Queen and Ossington". In other words, not in Parkdale. I'm thinking our intrepid filmmaker wasn't comfortable going to the Sun Fa and found the pretentious Drake more to their liking.

I agree with myparkdale.
The tracks at Dufferin to the crossroads at roncesvalles.
From the lake to Dundas.
I've always seen The Gladstone and The Edgewater Hotels as the borders.
The Drake was never and isn't in Parkdale.
But, that's just my opinion as a former Parkdalian.
(I grew up in Parkdale)

Kevin Clarke can be violent & disturbing. Like Zanta, people are amused by these "characters" for the most part but it ain't all pretty.
